Okay I just assume that last word didn't active based on this episode. There's no need to be hostile. Rewatching the episode again, the reason why it didn't active because Light didn't lose during the turn it is destroyed. The last word only last during the turn it is detroyed

In this fight alpha was destroyed and he was killed "on the same turn" and last time alpha died first and he had a turn or sth

It's last word and only active during the turn it is destroyed and useless effect unless the opponent able to win on that turn so it is kinda balance... maybe

it sucks if your opponent can read (which mikado apparently can't)

tbf most cards actually give you an incentive not to do something because it wouldn't work anyway. Like yeah, a card that can't be destroyed by cards effects is great if your opponent can't read and tries to destroy it anyway, but it's still plenty useful even if your opponent does know. Meanwhile, this effect is actually garbage because the actions your opponent need to do are too specific: he needs to destroy the creature THEN get your life point to zero for you to get an advantage from it, but 99% of the time, if you can get your opponent life to zero while destroying his creature, you can also do it WITHOUT destroying it. The effect would be decent if it was either not a last word OR didn't have anything to do with your life: either you can't destroy alpha mode without risking to see it evolve, or you can't kill your opponent unless you kill alpha mode before that.

I'm not talking only about the Last Word, but all of it's effects.
